Use Accurate Page Titles

The title tag of your page is important to both users and search engines. The title does not appear anywhere on your page content, but it is visible to search engines and appears in the user's browser tab.

Tips For Your Page Title

  • Make sure your title accurately reflects the page content
  • If there are any keywords you are trying to optimize your page for, try to include them in the title - but do not do so at the expense of readability. If your title doesn't sound right with the keywords in it, don't add them. Your SEO results are also based on how readable your titles and content is.
  • Don't spam your title with tons of keywords. This could result in search engines penalizing you or not listing you at all. Best advice is to keep it simple and accurate.

Example

Let's say you have a website that's all about frogs and the page you are working on is about the different types of pocket frogs. You'll want to title your page something simple and relevant. You could even use the phrase "The Different Types of Pocket Frogs".

"The Different Types of Pocket Frogs" is a good title because it meets two criteria.

1. It accurately reflects what your page content is about

2. It includes a good keyword phrase that people will likely use to search for information about pocket frogs when they're on their favorite search engine. If someone were to search for the term "The Different Types of Pocket Frogs". There's now a better chance that your webpage will be listed among the search results.
